Rotario de Boquete Golf Tournament
Our hearty congratulations to all the winners of the first Boquete Rotary Annual Golf Tournament, which took place on the spectacular Lucero Country Club course on Saturday 11 February.
Utopia Concierge and Realty Services was honored to be among the tournament sponsors and helpers on the day. We had lots of fun and met many cool newcomers to Panamá, and we are extremely grateful to all of our clients and supporters for giving us this opportunity to help expand education in our community.
We took lots of photos and you can download your favorites of friends, family or yourself making that amazing shot, winning a prize or just enjoying the day at Lucero. We have lots of photos that were taken at the event and there are some great ones with a Panamanian lady in traditional dress with some of the golfers.
The sky was a beautiful blue, the breeze was sweet and the greens were in great condition as 12 teams of four gathered to play Texas Scramble. In this type of tournament, each member of a team plays their own ball at each hole. But once each shot has been played, the best result of the four is selected and all the other team members move their balls to that spot and play their next strokes from there. This makes for a really fun and fast round of golf!
The event began at 8:30am with registration while the participants enjoyed coffee, donuts and muffins, and ended with a delicious lunch and prize-giving in the Four Seasons restaurant. There was also an auction and a raffle for some additional incredible prizes from the tournament sponsors, and the organizers were congratulated on a hugely successful event, to be repeated annually.
The Boquete and David Rotary clubs have expressed enormous gratitude to all who played, donated, bid and bought tickets, and have announced that all proceeds of the tournament will be used to benefit the hundreds of students in Chiriquí who are part of the Rotary scholarship program.
There was unfortunately no Hole-in-One winner of the Suzuki Jimny, but other fabulous prizes were awarded to the following tournament winners:
*Closest to the pin – Mike Joy *Longest women’s drive – Sylvia Bradley *Longest men’s drive – Jim Forsyth
*First place – Team 6 (Captain Tom Gervais, Brian Brewer, Alberto Scarraz, Geoff Heekin)
*Second place – Team 1 (Captain Mike Joy, Michael Vuytomec, George Papiana, Jon Nilsson)
*Third place – Team 12 (Captain Marvin Bell, Jerry Koeller, Grady Parks, Tarik Nasir)
